Testimonials From Independent Pharmacy Owner Clients

"Emil was a true professional to work with. He put together a complete sales presentation that gave the buyer a reason to take the next step in buying his first pharmacy. Since we were at one time a small chain and have sold many of our stores in the past either by ourselves or through a broker, we know what it takes to get it done. Emil got the sale done smoothly, from start to finish. The pharmacy that he sold for us was unique in its market and customer base. If you want to find the right buyer for your pharmacy, Emil will find them. He will make is easy by allowing both parties to come out with a great deal by not thinking inside the box......he has no box ....just a great tool box to help you sell your store. He reported to me at least weekly, narrowed down the interested parties and had a contract on the pharmacy within 2 months and a closing within 4 months. The only thing he did not do was wipe my tears of joy when he completed the transaction. Thanks, Emil.....you kept our store independent instead of selling out to a chain."

When the time comes to think about retiring and to consider selling a pharmacy that you have devoted your entire professional life to, where do you turn? For me I turned to Pharmacy Consulting Associates and in turn Emil Veltre.

From the onset of my relationship with Emil and PCA there was no high pressure. A straight forward and simple contract was all that it took to begin the process. Throughout the entire time, Emil was there working for me and my goals. His insight and knowledge on how to price and market our pharmacy was invaluable. Sure we spent a lot of time producing volumes of paperwork over the entire process, but Emil was the one who knew what to ask for and how to meaningfully show it to potential buyers. Emil’s attentiveness to this kind of detail, always reassuring me it was necessary, made the process run smoothly. Because of this attentive nature and to knowing what to look for informationaly, and to some extent personally from us and from prospective buyers, Emil was able to limit inquiries to those people who would be realistically able to assume ownership.

With each new inquiry and each interested party visit Emil was there. He put a lot of miles on his car, some in snow storms, to advise us as things moved along, and he never complained. Emil, over the time it took to complete the sale, always was prepared with the right questions and answers. We probably killed a small forest with all of the paperwork we provided him. At the times when we got “seller’s remorse”, Emil was there. Not necessarily to tell us how to think, but helping to direct us. Not pushing us, but allowing us to make our own informed decisions, based on fact. And when the time came to prepare the sale documents, Emil was there. Not only as our advocate, but to aid and assist both us and our legal counsel in the closing processes.

After everything was over I realized something else. A guy who started out as our consultant in a very personal transaction, had become a friend --- a friend who had only our best interests in mind and who stood behind us throughout the entire sale process.

So, would I recommend Emil Veltre if you were thinking about selling your life’s work? Absolutely!!! Emil will become your advocate throughout. And you never know, when it is all over you may consider him a friend, too!

Sincerely,

Bob Nestor, R.Ph., Ashland, PA

In 2005 I felt the need to call an end to owning my own pharmacy. Now don't think for a minute that you are hearing from a loser and quitter. My pharmacy did about two and a half million gross every year the last six years. I did it as the only pharmacist with six very good technicians. We had six computer stations besides the main station & ran four cash registers.

Seventy years of age, no vacations, third party pay & burgeoning regulations just burnt me out.

The idea of selling the pharmacy scared the heck out of me. I was sure that I'd take a big loss & dreaded going through the details of closing it out.

A man named Guy Stillwell was recommended to me. Some background checking on him impressed me. First of all he had a pharmacy background & a long line of successful pharmacy sales. When we met, I found him to be a comfortable man to work with.

Guy Stillwell soon had several independent pharmacies & several chains wanting the business. He did a great job & got top dollar for me. He kept me well informed as he went and he walked me through the closing.

"The most important thing to us was to make sure the neighborhood pharmacy STAYED as neighborhood pharmacy.”

“We took care of our patients for almost eighteen years. They deserved a smooth transition to pharmacists who would continue the fine service our people were accustomed to.”

“Patients who come to a pharmacy deserve personalized service, the kind of care independent pharmacies are known for.”

“Guy Stillwell understood our needs. He understood that transferring a pharmacy is a process that requires time, expertise, patience and trust. All of these pieces need to fit in order for both parties to be satisfied with the outcome.

After over thirty-four years of pharmacy practice, I came to the conclusion that it was time to end my ownership of a local independent neighborhood pharmacy. The issues surrounding this decision seemed overly complex and insurmountable.

First and foremost, was my business worth anything? And if it did have value, how much? And, even more important, what about my customers? And what would happen to my employees? How could I possibly protect and insure a future for these dedicated individuals, one of which had over twenty-four years of employment with my business? And how could I find a potential buyer?

I have a lot of experience owning and managing a local pharmacy, but I know very little about finding the best answers to these questions. Pharmacy Consulting Associates, (PCA), helped me find my answers to the above questions! And when the negotiations became even more complex due to unexpected complications, PCA stepped in, and insured that those negotiations went to successful completion!

When my husband Paul and I decided to retire, we hoped to sell our pharmacy to an independent. We had been a Medicine Shoppe for twenty years, then “The Medicine Cabinet” for the last five years. However, we could not find anyone locally who was able to purchase our pharmacy.

A chain store had given us an offer, but we had serious reservations about accepting it. Paul was a compounding pharmacist and had a number of specialty patients. It was likely that with the sale to a chain these services would be eliminated. Furthermore, the chain told us that only one of out employees would be hired. We worried about our patients, customers, and staff. They depended on Paul.

We approached Guy to look over the contract from the chain. He explained that our pharmacy could continue its tradition, stay in the same location, continue to take care of our patients, and generate a higher selling price. He established rapport with us, listened to our concerns, and offer his services. He was professional, thorough, and competent in representing us. He brought us an offer from a buyer who would keep our pharmacy going, and the offer was considerably more than the chain.

Throughout the process, Guy kept us informed, answered all our questions, gave guidance, and made the transaction much easier than we believed possible.

Today the pharmacy continues to provide the services our patients became accustomed to. We recommend Guy to other pharmacy owners without hesitation.
